Long time no see my bookish people. It's been a long year in between college applications, finishing up high school, drama with friends, and so on. But I can now proudly say that I survived high school. After a long four years full of emotional breakdowns, thousands of memories, hundreds of new experiences, new and old friendships, and surges of emotions I now only have one thing standing between me and college: summer.
After four years of pushing my love for books and writing to the side in order to prioritize my school work, I can now return to the habits I used to possess throughout elementary and middle school.
Since I decided to give myself a little bit of a breather this summer, which is in sharp contrast to my life last summer, I really want to work time in to work on myself and get back to what I love rather than what I feel like I have to do. So, without a further ado, here are my summer reading and personal goals for the summer of 2018.
Bookish Goals
1. Complete at least three books a month
2. Write a review for at least one one of the books read each month
3. Push myself out of my reading comfort zone
4. Don't buy more than nine books this summer
5. Start reading books in Spanish
6. Read the summer reading book for my college before I get to college
7. Post at least three times a week on my bookish instagram (@the.reader)
8. Explore the bookshops in DC and Georgetown before I leave for college
9. Make myself write (fiction) at least 2,000 words/week
10. Write journal entries where I can dump all of my thoughts every day
Personal Goals
1. Workout 6 times/week (duration: longer than 45 minutes)
2. Be able to run seven consecutive miles by the end of the summer
3. Go on road runs at least once a week
4. Clean out my room at both houses to prepare for college
5. Organize all of my past school papers for my younger brother
6. Sell/donate the books I don't want anymore
7. Follow my diet throughout the summer (cheat days only allowed during vacation)
8. Lose at least 20 pounds by the end of the summer (8 down already!!)
9. Get a better grip on financials
10. Cut monthly spending down
11. Garner a more positive outlook on life
12. Catch up on all the years I spent watching shows instead of movies
13. Don't eat anything I'm allergic to this summer (it's a real problem guys)
Alright, those are the most obvious goals I can come up with so far. It's going to be a summer of me concentrating on myself and cultivating a fresh, clean, and healthy lifestyle. I highly recommend creating your own list of goals, both bookish and personal, that you can look back on throughout the summer to keep yourself motivated. Let me know if we have any goals in common(:
Happy Summer everyone,
